Québec - La rue
Ces dernières semaines ont été plus occupées qu'à l'habitude. Nettement. Submergé par des dossiers urgents et des délais serrés, j'ai dû leur consacrer toute mon attention et toute mon énergie. Pris dans ce maelström, je n'ai pas eu l'occasion de faire beaucoup de photo.
J'avais, ce weekend, un besoin urgent d'avoir ma dose de photographie, de voir du monde, de changer de décor, de regarder autre chose que mon écran d'ordi, d'ouvrir les yeux, de regarder mes semblables, de prendre un bain d'humanité. Quoi de mieux que le Carnaval de Québec pour se frotter aux autres en plein hiver? Pas tant pour le Carnaval, bien sûr, mais pour la foule.
Évidemment, tout ce petit monde n'avait aucune idée de l'horreur qui allait se déployer le lendemain même. Pour l'heure, chacun était heureux d'être là, ensemble simplement. C'est pas ça la vie?
These past few weeks have been busier than usual. Definitely. I was overwhelmed by projects I had to complete and very tight deadlines. I had to devote all my energy and attention to those and, caught in the maelstrom, I had very little time for photography.
This weekend, I felt an urgent need to get my fix. I desperately needed to see people, to change scenery, to look at something else than a computer display, to open my eyes, to look at and see my fellow men, in short, to take a bath of humanity. In the dead of winter, nothing beats the Carnaval de Québec for this. I don't care for the Carnaval in itself, but I knew there would be a crowd.
Obviously, no one had the faintest idea of the horror that would unfold the next day. They were just happy to be there, joking and having fun, walking and discovering Québec together. Isn't that life, as it should be.
